The small town in Arizona had never experienced an earthquake. The sudden violent tremor left everyone worried and afraid. Clay, a teacher at the high school, along with his wife Doris, meet for with Eric, a doctor at the local hospital, and Wendell, a self-professed geologist who warns the others there could be more earthquakes, some even more severe. He is proven right as tremor after tremor occurs, each one stronger than the last. Cracks begin appearing in the streets, spewing out poisonous gases. Wendell feels the quakes are being caused by something being done at the oilfields, and confronts the foreman who denies any fault. Wendell feels the only choice now is to evacuate the town, but the Mayor and the City Council reject his idea. The next quake rips down the front of the school, then an explosion downtown sets blocks of buildings on fire, spewing a rain of embers and deadly ash everywhere, suffocating those caught out on it and clogging all car engines to a halt. Soon only the city hospital is left untouched and the people flock to it. But then it collapses, leaving those who survive stranded in the rain of ash. They have to find a way out of town to safety, but the only vehicles still capable of running are the school buses and they're still at the school. An attempt to retrieve them finds the school yard flooded with molten lava, the buses blocked. Wendell, Clay and Eric must use all their wits to find a way out and save thoese few people who are left.

Ever watch a B rated disaster movie? Welcome to its book.first, it's sophomoric in its writing....maybe written by a ninth grader.which in that case, author you did well.there are grammar errors though not too distracting and covering them won't help the over all book.there are parts I rolled my eyes to and other parts I'm pretty sure, in even my limited knowledge, was made up.character development is scant.but the story line has potential...just like a B movie may have a good back story.and I'm not a writer so maybe i couldn't do this much.I finished it.that gives it a two...May be ok for a 12 year old budding catastrophe reader.keep practising authorProduct details
